Two greenhouses form a diptych, facing each other off in the abbey's former potager.
Montée de Serre* is a compromise between "montée de sève" (rising sap) and climate change. Plants (rhus typhina) have been grafted with garden tools to give them autonomy; the greenhouse which sheltered them is raised above ground by the vigorous growth of the six young saplings.
* "Montée de serre" means 'greenhouse rising ' or perhaps 'greenhouse ascension'. The phrase sounds almost the same as "montée de sève" (rising sap).
